A perfect venue for all types of events – the Bi-Lo Center, Greenville, SC – is a 16,000 seat state of the art arena. Located in Greenville’s business district, the Bi-Lo Center hosts events from motocross and monster trucks to Kenny Chesney and Greenville’s American Indoor Football Association team: the South Carolina Force.
Built in 1998 at a cost of $63 million dollars, the arena is one of the larger venues in the state of South Carolina. Over the years, the arena has hosted a number of different minor league and semi-professional sports teams, as well as being a favorite stop for ice dancing shows and the Ringling Bros. Circus.
In 2009, the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville, SC will have a number of musical acts including Motley Crue, Kenny Chesney, and Keith Urban. Larry the Cable Guy is also slated to perform in the large arena. Filling out the event season are some arena football games and Yanni among other performers.
It’s a popular stop for a number of national tours, as Greenville County is the most populous county in South Carolina. Not only does the venue attract residents of the surrounding areas – it is within a two hour drive of three major metropolitan areas: Atlanta, Georgia; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Columbia, South Carolina.
With the popularity of NCAA basketball in the region – it is not uncommon for one of the major college’s basketball teams to play at the arena. In the past, the center has hosted Duke Basketball, as well as UNC, Wake Forest, and Georgia Tech. The arena has hosted NCAA tournament games during March Madness while also holding state finals for South Carolina high school basketball.
In 2008, the Bi-Lo Center of Greenville, SC featured two separate wrestling events. The first was a pay-per-view TNA wrestling event and the second was a WWE Monday Night Raw event. Both of the events attracted large crowds placing the arena on a national stage.
The Bi-Lo Center is located in Greenville’s business district and is a perfect complement to the city’s many smaller venues. With an arena of this size, Greenville, SC is able to attract a large number of national shows, musical acts, and other events for the residents of Greenville County and the whole Upstate region. It’s a popular venue for sporting events of all levels – and the arena and residents of the area are gearing up for the 2010 season of the American Indoor Football Association’s South Carolina Force.
