PENDLETON Library Extension
In 2007, the Pendleton Branch Library opened in a new 12,000 sq. ft. building overlooking an old growth forest on a 4 acre parcel donated by a Clemson University professor. Adjacent to the building is the remaining foundation and pillars of an 1860 southern plantation home known as Tanglewood. The library design is proportioned after the original home.
The entrance hallway into this branch library features a starburst, eight-point compass floor pattern the is seen throughout the library system. This logo represents the main library at the center surrounded by eight compass points which represent the eight branch libraries. The Children’s Program Room and a Public Meeting Room are located off of this hallway.
The library area itself includes 15 computer works stations and multiple reading areas which enjoy views of the trees or the ruins of the old Tanglewood home.
