More than 1.5 million passengers pass through the airport every year. Flights from a number of national airlines operate out of the airports 13 gates. There are more than 75 daily non-stop flights to 19 U.S. cities across the country. A short flight to Atlanta connects local travelers with even more travel and connection options.
Airlines providing service out of the Greenville Spartanburg Airport include Delta, Northwest, United, US Airways, and Continental as well as a number of smaller airlines. Besides the major airlines that fly in and out of the airport – there are plenty of rental car options for visitors to Upstate, South Carolina. Hertz, Alamo, Budget, Thrifty, and Avis all operate on-site booths to assist travelers. A number of off-site options are available as well which include Enterprise and Dollar car rental.

Built in 1962, the airfield was originally known as Roger Milliken Field. The United States Army Air Force originally built the air field as a training ground for fighter jets and bombers, as well as a base of operations for anti-submarine patrols in the Gulf of Mexico. Later, the air field was converted to a municipal airport and had its name changed to the Greenville Spartanburg Airport. It still serves a small percentage of military flights each year, though it is now mainly a commuter airport.
The airport has plenty of parking available with two parking garages on-site as well as several parking lots which serve as short-term parking and economy parking. Most of the lots operate at a cost of $1 per hour, and a daily maximum of $10.
The terminal does have a restaurant and full service snack bar for travelers waiting for connections, as well as several microwave ovens for personal use. An ATM, business center with a fax machine, and internet access are also available for travelers.
The airport has one runway which was extended in 1999 so that the airport could accommodate any type of aircraft being flown today. Also on the airport grounds is a 120,000 square foot FedEx facility which processes over 3,000 packages an hour for the Upstate region.
The Greenville Spartanburg Airport provides easy access in and out of Greenville County and Upstate South Carolina. It eliminates the need for local business travelers having to drive to one of the regions other airports and fight nasty traffic.
